Treasures from the past

Today I received a  priceless treasure in the mail. My high school typing teacher sent me a copy of a letter my mother wrote in June of 1968 when I was a baby.  I was born January 1, 1968, weighing in at a little over 3 lbs and a mere 12 inches long. My twin sister and I weren't given much of a chance of survival all those years ago.  We had many problems. My Daddy went to Vietnam just after we were born and my brothers were 6 years and 2 and a half years old.  She talks in the letter about just the things Mamas tell their friends. She was tired and weary but her faith shines through that letter.  I hear a tired Mama's, heart. I hear a tired Mama's hope. I hear a scared but faithful Mama's prayers in that letter. It is written in her precious script, so pretty, so distinctive to me.  I see love in that letter. I feel love in that letter. I hear in her letter what I felt when my son was a fussy, sick baby and I was relying on my faith to get me through. This letter is like a priceless treasure to me. There is nothing more precious than a mother's love.
